A 32-year-old woman in India has been found dead after using chemical abortion drugs in an attempt to terminate an early pregnancy.
Michael Robinson, SPUC Director of Communications said: “Despite chemical abortion drugs causing damage and even death to women around the globe, pro-abortion advocates continue to hail the drugs as ‘safe and simple.’ Women’s health and lives are being sacrificed for the sake of this agenda driven line of deceit.”
The unnamed woman, who had an 18-month-old daughter, was six weeks pregnant when she consumed the chemical abortion drugs.
It is understood that the woman’s husband obtained abortion drugs from a medical representative who was aware that the husband and the victim’s in-laws intended to perform a DIY home abortion with the drugs.
After consuming the abortion drugs, the woman experienced hemorrhaging and severe pain. The medical representative who provided the abortion drugs advised the family to use a painkiller prescribed by himself. Hours later the woman was dead. Autopsy reports indicate that the woman died due to an overdose of the drugs.
Police in the Indian region of Kashimira were called to a family home after they were informed of the woman’s death. Police later launched an investigation and seized bloodstained bedsheets, pills and painkillers from the home.
Medical officials confirmed that the pills found in the residence were intended to induce an abortion.
